Knowing GodIs it really possible to know God? To call on Him as you would a friend? To have an intimate relationship with Him? At Community Baptist Church we believe that a relationship with God is possible through personal faith in Jesus Christ. God desires to have a relationship with you. "Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." - John 17:3 "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me - just as the Father knows me and I know the Father - and I lay down my life for the sheep." - John 10:14-15 God's Perfect PlanGod loves you and wants to have a relationship with you.
"I have come that you may have life and have it to the full." The ProblemOur heart tends to run from God and rebel against Him. The Bible calls this "sin."
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." God's SolutionTo restore the relationship that sin has broken, God made a way through His Son, Jesus Christ, who died on the cross and arose from the dead 3 days after His crucifixion."But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were sinners, Christ died for us." - Romans 5:8 Man's ResponseYou can receive the free gift of salvation by faith alone. Faith is a decision of your heart demonstrated by the actions of your life. By faith alone in Jesus, with no trust in your good works, you can be forever forgiven and eternally accepted into the presence of God in heaven. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast." - Ephesians 2:8-9 "If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." - Romans 10:9 My PrayerIf you are choosing right now to believe that Jesus died for your sins and to receive new life through Him, pray a prayer similar to this to thank Him for your new life: "Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus died to forgive me of my sin. By faith alone I now accept your offer of forgiveness and eternal life. Thank you for forgiving me of all my sin. Thank you for my new life. From this day forward, I will choose to follow you with a heart of gratitude for your love and forgiveness." If you prayed this prayer, share your decision with a Christian friend or pastor. If you are not already attending a church, find one in which you can worship and grow in your faith. |
